Callie has 4 pups

New Mama Mini Callie has 4 pups which were delivered in about an hour and half.
Two boys and two girls.
Good lil pups and for a first time mama is doing great. Very protective of her pups.
She let Piper know not to get to close to the nursery.
She knew what to do when they got her. We had x rayed the pups and knew there would be 4 pups and not much difficulty with having the pups.
Great to have an easy deliver with a new Mama.
She is a Grand daughter of Shadow and her Mama is Willow.
Tail docks on Sat and then go home for Rae to keep until about 6 weeks.

Update at home with Callie

Well yes I have been slow at posting to non existent. At home with Callie waiting for her to have pups. She is due today so she is moving around a bit strange and really seems to have a puzzled look on her face. Like whats going on. Will see if she has pups today. Looks like she will have four pups. This is her first litter and she will be having our Shadows Great Grandpups.

Greta will be having pups from Thoren

Greta will be having pups from Thoren in March in 2011. She is pup from Piper.
She was at our house for a few days. Was amazed how much she is like Piper in a lot of ways
We are excited about having some Piper grand puppies. Piper retired last summer and is our resident couch potato. Greta has a nice fluffy coat. Very close to you when she is in the house.
She has really matured and will mature even more when she is new Mama in the spring.

This is Sturgis from Heidi
We have named all the pups for Heidis family who have Harleys. The boys from Heidi are
FatBoy and HOG and the girls are
Sturgis and Sportster and Harley Chick.
They are from Thoren our black male

The boys are black and the girls are salt and pepper and were born on May 13th.

The pups are going home. All of ShayLAs litter has gone home.

Plus most of Shadows litter have headed to their new families.

So nice to see all the excitement when folks come to get their new family member.

Importance of outside training for pups

This is Sarah from ShayLA and Remington. She is now nearly 8 weeks old and will be going home They have been a great litter of 6 born right before Christmas 2009.
We consider them now in our raising process to be teenagers. They are in a playpen during the day and a crate at night and doing wonderful AS we have learned it is very important before a pup goes to their new family they need to have played in the grass and on concrete surfaces.
We gradually harden the pups in for going outside for 2-3 minutes at a time and then building up their stays outside playing. At first when pups go outside to pottie and play they will often just huddle and shiver in a pile of pups. After a few days of getting the new feel of cement and grass they become more adventurous. Right now after 10 days even with these cold winter days they are loving the outside and adapting. This part of the process makes it very easy for them to be house trained when they go home. Like all steps in the puppy raising process simple but very essential step in the puppys growth and ever expanding world.
It is alwasy fun to see the development of the litters pup by pup week by week

Update in December 2009 from BG Minis

Well it has been a good spell since I have updated the BG Minis blog. Have been busy with corn and wood pellets stoves during the fall heating season. Good to be back at the blog for BG minis with an update on litters planned . One of our partners in Lexington has a litter with her Piper a salt and pellet for 7 nice little pups. Will be over this week to see the pups and get some photos for all. They were were born in later November and are black and silver pups from Remington.
This is Pipers first litter and she is a great mama in taking great care of her little ones.

ShayLA and Remington wil be having pups right before Christmas. Got ShayLA a nice haircut and getting her area ready for the pups. Looking forward to another good litter from ShayLA.

They will be ready to go home in later February and we are working on our waiting list for reservations right now. Happy Holidays from all of the BG Mini family
